The Valor Network and LTC Scott Rutter (USA, Retired) are proud to announce that Colonel John Reitzell of Huntsville, AL has agreed to be a guest speaker at the 2008 Pearl River NY Memorial Day Parade (May 26, 2008 at 10:30 am, Central Avenue, Pearl River, NY).  As the First Vice President of the Pearl River American Legion, LTC Rutter is dedicated to bringing our heros to the forefront of our local community. 

Colonel Reitzell, while assigned to the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), was deployed on over 35 operations in support of our nation's counter-terrorism program.  These included the responses to invasion of Grenada, the hijack of TWA 847 to Beirut, the insurgencies in El Salvador and Nicaragua, and the seizing of the Italian cruise liner - Achille Lauro.  During the Achille Lauro mission, he was part of a 6 man team chronicled in Tom Clancy's book Shadow Warriors as "The Chase."

Responsible for the operations of over 5,000 Special Forces, Navy Seals and other classified special operations forces around the world, Colonel Reitzell was selected for Brigade Command in 1993, and Chief of Staff at the US Army's Infantry School at Fort Benning, GA in 1995.  Colonel Reitzell retired as an Army Ranger, Master Parachutist with over 500 jumps, a Combat Infantryman's Badge, 2 Legions of Merit, 4 Bronze Stars with "V" for Valor, the Purple Heart, 4 Air Medals, and numerous other commendations from multiple services and countries.  In 2003, Colonel Reitzell was inducted into the Madison County Hall of Heros.  Colonel Reitzell and his wife Glenda serve on various boards and in community organizations, donating much of their time and effort supporting our active duty servicemembers and veterans.

Join LTC Rutter and Colonel Reitzell at the Pearl River NY Memorial Day Parade.  Commences at 10:30 am at Lederle (Wyeth) on Middletown Road, Near Rte 304, to Central Ave and West to the Pearl River Train Station.  Event to be followed by Memorial Day Ceremony, including a speech by Colonel Reitzell.
